Hotel Banquet Hall Movable Walls: How Operators Actually Use Them
A typical setup uses overhead tracks and stackable panels. In the morning the hall is open for a large reception. In the afternoon the wall closes and you have two independent rooms. Guests on either side should not feel like they are sharing a venue.
We see this pattern in star hotels, banquet centers, and multi-function halls. Our own case work includes projects such as hotel banquet installations in Guangzhou and Shenzhen — different finishes, same operating idea.
What hotels usually specify
No floor track. Marble and carpet look better without grooves, and waiters move faster with a continuous floor.
Acoustic performance. If two events run together, sound control is non-negotiable. For mid to large halls, 85 or 100 series is the common discussion. Height and simultaneous use decide which one.
Finish that matches the interior. Wood veneer, fire-rated melamine, fabric, or leather can be matched to the banquet design so the closed wall reads as architecture, not equipment.
Pass door. A built-in pedestrian door saves staff from walking around the entire stack during service.
85 vs 100 in banquet projects
If the hall is in the mid-height range and budget is tight, 85 series (up to about 8m) is often the workhorse. For taller multi-function halls, heavier acoustic demand, or custom ultra-high layouts, 100 series is the safer specification.
We would rather tell a client to spend on the right series once than repair a light system that was forced into a tall hall.

If you are renovating or opening a hotel
Bring us the banquet floor plan early — ideally before the ceiling and stacking bay are finalized. Partition layout is much cheaper to correct on paper than on site.
